Vitamix Ascent X4
Our score: 8.4/10 out of 1048 oz container · 17 in tall · 10-yr warranty
A high-speed blender pulverises what an ordinary blender leaves in chunks: frozen fruit, leafy greens, nuts and seeds. On paper the motors look alike. What separates them is the container shape, whether the blender fits under your cabinets, how you control it and how long the warranty runs.

Touch controls, six presets and an 8-year warranty, under standard cabinets.
Smoothie program, a tamper for thick frozen blends and a 10-year warranty.
A 68 oz jug plus a 24 oz personal cup in the box, and a 10-year warranty.

Check the height with the container on the base, which each product page lists. Low-profile 64 oz jars and 48 oz jars are shorter than tall 64 oz jars like the Vitamix 5200’s. Measure your own clearance before you buy.
Vitamix gives 5, 7 or 10 years depending on the model. Blendtec ranges from 2 years on its Classic models to 10 on the Professional 800. Premium Ninja blenders carry 1 year in the US.
Vitamix inspects and tests its certified reconditioned blenders and gives them a 3- or 5-year Vitamix warranty, depending on the model. Marketplace “renewed” units are different: the Vitamix warranty may not apply.
48 and 64 oz Self-Detect containers work on Ascent, Ascent X and Venturist bases with their automatic features, and on Propel, Legacy and Explorian bases without them. Personal cups, bowls and the food processor need an Ascent, Ascent X or Venturist base.
Yes. The blades heat soup by friction in a few minutes. Use the vented lid and follow the manual’s limit on hot ingredients: Vitamix says not to add anything hotter than 170°F.
That is the motor’s thermal protection. Let it cool (Vitamix says up to 45 minutes), then blend smaller batches on high speed and use the tamper.
