Updated

  • 90 oz Container
  • 15.5 in Height on base
  • 6 Programs
  • 8 years Warranty

Pros

  • Eight-year warranty, against two years on the Classic models
  • Touch slider with 8 speeds plus pulse, and six preset cycles
  • 15.5 in tall with the jar, so it fits under standard cabinets
  • LCD timer counts down the time left in each blend
  • Same 1560 W motor as the Classic line

Cons

  • Jar holds 90 oz but its markings stop at 36 oz
  • No tamper in the box: just the WildSide+ jar and vented lid
  • Stainless (650 S) and Gunmetal finishes cost extra
Best for
Most people choosing a Blendtec: daily smoothies, soups and frozen desserts, with long warranty cover.
Not for
Households that need a quiet blender for early mornings; the Professional 800 adds a sound enclosure.

Our verdict

The Designer 650 is the model most Blendtec buyers should start with. It uses the same 1560 W motor as the cheaper Classic bases, but adds a flat touch panel with a speed slider, six preset cycles (smoothie, ice crush, batters, ice cream, whole juice and hot soup) and a timer that shows how long a blend has left.

The bigger difference is cover: Blendtec gives the Designer 650 an eight-year warranty, where the Classic 575 and Total Blender Classic get two. With the WildSide+ jar fitted it stands 15.5 in tall, low enough to live under standard wall cabinets.

The jar is the standard WildSide+: it holds 90 oz in all, but its markings stop at 36 oz, which Blendtec treats as the limit for a finished blend. The stainless 650 S and Gunmetal versions are the same base in a different finish.

What owners say

Owners use the Designer 650 for daily smoothies, nut milks and nut butters and praise creamy, grit-free results and how it handles ice. The sample is small and mostly older. Single reports cover a loud motor, a lid that needs holding, grease staining the base, and a fault that support handled poorly.

What owners like

  • Creamy smoothies with no grit from seeds, powder or greens
  • Handles ice well, and the heavy base stays put
  • Copes with nut milks and nut butters
