Our verdict
The VX3 is one of two VX Series models Vitamix added in 2026, and it slots below the Ascent X2. It keeps a 2.2 HP motor and a 48 oz container at 17 inches tall, but the base is lighter at 10.5 lb and it swaps SELF-DETECT for BlendPilot: three adaptive programs (smoothie, frozen cocktail, soup) that sense what is happening in the container and set speed and time for you.
Compared with the X2 you give up container detection and three years of warranty, seven rather than ten, but save weight and money. Compared with the VX1 you gain the programs, a timer and the shorter 48 oz container in place of the tall 64 oz one.
Vitamix says it works with its 48 and 64 oz containers and the Personal Cup Adapter. Target sells a taupe colour of the VX3 that no other retailer has.
