High-speed blenders

A high-speed blender pulverises what an ordinary blender leaves in chunks: frozen fruit, leafy greens, nuts and seeds. On paper the motors look alike. What separates them is the container shape, whether the blender fits under your cabinets, how you control it and how long the warranty runs.

Before you buy

  • Measure under your cabinets. Check the height with the jar on the base: tall 64 oz jars often stand taller than standard cabinet clearance, low-profile jars sit lower.
  • Read the warranty, not the horsepower. Warranties run from 1 year on premium Ninja models to 10 years on Vitamix Ascent X and Blendtec Professional: the clearest sign of how long a blender is built to last.
  • Check which containers fit. Personal cups, a food processor or a second jar only work on some bases, so choose the series with the extras you want.

High-speed blenders questions

Will a high-speed blender fit under my kitchen cabinets?

Check the height with the container on the base, which each product page lists. Low-profile 64 oz jars and 48 oz jars are shorter than tall 64 oz jars like the Vitamix 5200’s. Measure your own clearance before you buy.

How long are Vitamix, Blendtec and Ninja warranties?

Vitamix gives 5, 7 or 10 years depending on the model. Blendtec ranges from 2 years on its Classic models to 10 on the Professional 800. Premium Ninja blenders carry 1 year in the US.

Is a certified reconditioned Vitamix a good buy?

Vitamix inspects and tests its certified reconditioned blenders and gives them a 3- or 5-year Vitamix warranty, depending on the model. Marketplace “renewed” units are different: the Vitamix warranty may not apply.

Will my old Vitamix containers fit a new base?

48 and 64 oz Self-Detect containers work on Ascent, Ascent X and Venturist bases with their automatic features, and on Propel, Legacy and Explorian bases without them. Personal cups, bowls and the food processor need an Ascent, Ascent X or Venturist base.

Can a high-speed blender make hot soup?

Yes. The blades heat soup by friction in a few minutes. Use the vented lid and follow the manual’s limit on hot ingredients: Vitamix says not to add anything hotter than 170°F.

Why did my blender stop in the middle of a thick blend?

That is the motor’s thermal protection. Let it cool (Vitamix says up to 45 minutes), then blend smaller batches on high speed and use the tamper.
