Our verdict
The Classic 575 is the simplest countertop Blendtec on sale. It keeps the 1560 W motor and the 90 oz WildSide+ jar, but trims the controls to five manual speeds, pulse and four programs: a smoothie cycle that varies its speed as it runs, a self-clean cycle, and plain 60- and 90-second runs.
That covers smoothies and shakes, but there is no hot-soup or ice-cream preset, and the warranty on a new unit is two years. Next to it, the Total Blender Classic offers more speeds and presets in the same series, and the Designer 650 adds a touch panel and eight years of cover.
It is worth a look mainly as a certified refurbished machine, or in a bundle with a second jar.

Owners use the Classic 575 for smoothies, soups and nut butters and praise smooth results, the one-touch programmes, easy cleaning and units that keep going for years. The common complaint is noise: several call it very loud. Single reports cover a motor overheating at nine months, a lid cap popping off and a jar breaking mid-blend.
