Our verdict
The 5-Speed Immersion Blender is the only hand blender in the current Vitamix range. It has a 625 W motor, five speeds, a 4-pronged blade inside a bell guard that limits suction and protects cookware, and a 5 ft cord. It weighs 2.86 lb and works in any container with an opening at least 3 inches wide, such as a wide-mouth jar.
It complements a countertop Vitamix rather than replacing one: it is handy for blending soup in the pot or a small sauce, where pouring hot liquid into a jar is a chore. The box holds the wand and blade base; Vitamix sells bundles with extra attachments. The warranty is three years limited.
