Our verdict
Blendtec's only current hand blender is a 350 W stick with a variable dial that runs across 20 speeds. It comes as a small kit: the blending shaft, a whisk, a chopping attachment, a jar to blend in and a tray to keep the pieces together, and the accessories can go in the dishwasher.
It is meant for jobs a countertop blender is clumsy at, such as puréeing soup in the pan or whipping a little cream, rather than for crushing ice. The weak point is cover: one year, where Blendtec's Designer and Professional countertop models carry eight and ten.
